In this vein the directors have:
- Consistently apportioned a significant share of profits each year to charitable causes
- Personally volunteered for a number of ongoing communal roles
- Encouraged staff to do the same
- Provided flexibility and support to staff to achieve the same
- Made available company resources and time to support the same
Examples include:
- Hosting and administrating several local charities
- Ongoing provision of Freepost services to a charity supporting impoverished students in their frequent mailshot fundraising campaigns
- Our (environmentally friendly) policy of donating surplus office equipment and furniture to local schools and charities
All of our team are involved, on an entirely voluntary basis, in numerous roles including those with local, national and international charities and institutions in the fields of education, relief of poverty, care for the sick and disadvantaged and many other fields.
A non-exhaustive list includes:
- Roles on the boards of Governors and Trustees of local educational and communal institutions
- Fundraising and campaigning for a 150 year old organisation, with an annual budget of $8m, dedicated to relieving poverty, supporting education and grants for widows and orphans
- Founding of, and volunteering for, Mesila Manchester (www.mesilauk.co.uk) , a branch of Mesila International (www.mesila.org), an organisation founded in 1998 and dedicated to combating poverty through counselling, education and public awareness programmes to provide the tools to achieve financial stability and independence. Mesila International has dozens of branches in three continents
- Volunteer member of panel providing advice and assessments to local charities dealing with grant requests on a monthly basis
- Hosting events that promote social interaction between community members such as breakfast clubs, seminars on ethics and interpersonal relationships
- Council member for local community centre and its building fund
